We Are Free Written and Recorded by Lori Dawn Maximenko August 2013 www.missloridawn.com It was a pretty easy ride. I thought I’d never break my stride A singer on the streets of ambition I got caught up in the race. Wound up in a lonely place Now I’ve fallen into an empty field All weaknesses revealed But off in the distance I see him galloping Majestically and magically—I admire his leaping strength And desire seems to rise from deep inside my soul And it reminds me of a dream I had so long ago (Chorus) To ride a wild horse and fly above the land To be carried by the power of his soul With the wind beneath my feet we’re both beast and man And the reason why he carries me is because we both agree We are free! But somewhere inside that race my dreams became misplaced And a barbed wire fence replaced all my ambitions I had a wild and firey will with dreams no one could steal But the thief he was so cunning He tripped me up while I was running I headed down a darkened trail. Could have swore that it was hell Conforming to the world like a shattered little girl Desire fell apart and it almost stole my heart I forgot about the dream I had so long ago ( Chorus) To ride a wild horse and fly above the land To be carried by the power of his soul With the wind beneath my feet we’re both beast and man And the reason why he carries me is because we both agree We are free! (Bridge) Now there’s a wild Mustang staring me down And one-by-one my feet gently leave the ground He must be 16 hands or more And together, we agree that our dreams are gonna soar… (Chorus) As I ride that wild mustang high above the land And I’m carried by the power of his soul With the wind beneath my feet we’re both beast and man And the reason why he carries me is because we both agree We are free! We are free!

Time to Ride Marcy Stonecipher I lost my way Spirit was broken Fear took over everything The bottom was hard With only one way out A journey into the heart So it’s time to ride To see what I can find Out into the sun Until hoof beats and heartbeats become one I let her carry me This long maned beauty Into the heart of it all We found love is all that matters And love doesn’t discriminate By species, by age, or by anything So it’s time to ride To see what I can find Out into the sun Until hoof beats and heartbeats become one And in that rhythm I found trust and peace and I stayed with them And fear was there But I broke it down We broke it down So it’s time to ride To see what I can find Out into the sun Until hoof beats and heartbeats become one Become one We are one

Uncle Charlie taught me how to ride he bought the only rope I ever owned always wears a cowboy hat except when he's inside he's the only real cowboy I've known He's got forty acres south of Jackson Hole lately he's been tempted to sell see the dude ranch next door needs another 18 holes and his slice of heaven is on the road to hell Now he drives a school bus instead of riding fences Ranches don't hire old hands any more He's got a line on his face for every calf he's branded And a past due account at the feed store As long as he's living he'll be living the cowboy way Lord it's hard to be a cowboy these days He don't chew tobacco any more Ever since he heard it gives you cancer He's still got a ring in the pocket of his jeans But he's getting to old for taking foolish chances He don't care much for the hat boys out in Nashville So he drives a truck with a broke down radio He still gets a taste of glory every Friday Pulling chutes at the late night rodeo As long as he's living he'll be living the cowboy way Lord it's hard to be a cowboy these days Home, home on the range Where the bankers and government play And seldom is heard an encouraging work It's hard to be a cowboy these days

Two Wild Horseswith all my heart for “Johan” from “Sonny Boy” Zain – rest in peace Dad He knew my father from the old Country Moved to America, the “land of the free” Then my Daddy died in 1963 The dark horse of emptiness came-a-ridin’ after me [chorus] Rescue me, rescue me My home is broken, they just can’t see My scattered family has no time for me I lost my will, yet I can’t sit still, rescue me I had no father and he had no son, He was a pistol; I was a son-of-a-gun He told me stories oh how he enchanted me To take off these saddles let two wild horses run free [chorus] Rescue me, he rescued me My home was broken, they just can’t see My shattered family had no time for me But I found my will, still I can’t sit still, Rescue me [bridge] Back in school I was so hard to handle Mama tried the best that she can Those days were dark like a guiding candle This kind stranger lent a hand [instrumental] All he ever wanted was a little company Each day I realize what this man done for me His last request hey it really got to me “Scatter my ashes where two wild horses once ran free Rescue me, Dad look at me I’m one lost pony like when you first met me Two wild horses someday again we’ll be I’ll smile the day and I’ll run your way When the Big Cowboy in the sky rescues me ©Anthony “Zain” Aberdeen2013
